Here we are at Wally World! The bad news is that last ride drenched us to the skin and I am wearing a silk top. The good news is that my top will dry in about 5 minutes!
18 months ago I ran down this path and stopped to take a photo and post it. After I hit post, I saw on my dash something written my Michelle. It was real and raw, it was strong and powerful and poignant. Joan Jett, Bad Reputation was playing on my iPod. I thought about her post all the way home.
I think about her whenever I find myself running along this trail.
3.65
It was raining when I left. That is fine, though, when you think about it, the Marathon is in Oregon, so I should not let a little rain get in my way.
I found I like running in a light summer rain. It is a lot better than the humid air that came in after the rain moved over the lake. My knee was strong, my body strong, and I set an easy pace, I had a route in mind one that held interest for me and my little iPhone camera.
I needed to do 9 miles, and I did just over that, completing week 4 of Marathon Training.
This is taken from the pier that no one knows about. It goes out from just south of Montrose Beach House from the Nature Sanctuary. This is about half way into the run.
I ran back and a long the newly constructed seawall along the Nature Sanctuary. The perfume of the flowers and the heat coming off the land was almost overwhelming. It was beautiful, there were tons of birds, flowers plants, all within a half mile of high rises. I almost stepped on a fish, the fisherman on his phone and his catch on the path flopping around.
I was chased by two puppies - one at mile 5 and another at mile 7, I found a star shaped fairy wand. And latex items that had been used, lets just move on…. I ran across the finish line of a 5K race for Girls on The Run, as it was along my path, at almost the same time I had run exactly 5K.
I saw a large bank of port-a-potties probably for a different event, perhaps the avon walk for the cure.
I ran strong. And I remembered why I love this distance.
9.25 in 1:41 - the last three miles were quicker than the first three.
The DL, I am off it….
So I am back into training, and the knee feels great, so that is going well. YAY! My Garmin is all confused so it would be super awesome if it knocked that off or it can go back to the running store! YOU KNOW GARMIN I KEPT YOUR BOX!!!!!!
Maybe I should read the instructions afterall…….nah!
Anyway 3 and a quarter miles, under 10 the first mile and just over 10 each mile after, so it was a good solid effort.
